Rising almost five thousand feet
above the Anza-Borrego Desert floor, Villager Peak offers nonstop astounding
views mixed with one hell of a workout.
This is a pretty strenuous hike,
averaging 14% grade up a ridge for six and a half miles and 5+ hours.
There is a register to sign at the summit; poke in and around some boulders
to find the coffee can.
The views are spectacular. A panorama
of the 300+ square-mile Salton Sea is to the east, and the Borrego valley
is to the southwest. Rabbit Peak could be seen, a destination for some of
the hikers that pass through Villager Peak on the way. |
